Is there anyone out there that has a 5 1/4 inch floppy drive working that could try to get some data off a disk?

I think I have one that still works. I had Computer Zoo upgrade my old Windows '98 to transition all the old stuff I had,and even to add a DVD burner to it. What do you have in mind?

What I could try is to load a floppy and see if it would rewrite it to DVD--just no time to try it now.

I have an elderly lady that writes music. Her library is all on 5 1/4" floppies. She never backed up. To make the cheese even a bit more binding, it was written on an Epson machine of some type. I am currently trying to goet more info on that machine to see if it ran DOS or something wierd.

What I would hope to do is send you a floppy and see if you can read it. If that works, then the rest. I am a bit ahead of myself till I find out more about the machine, a day or two.

If this all seems OK to you I will get more info and a floppy.

Boy, talk about putting on your "way back hat"! If it is written in DOS, XP has a DOS emulator that can most likely retreive the data. Need to get from some of the guys that are more adept at computer stuff like Steve St. L to help you.

It looks like Jim is the man for the job. It is obvious that he has more knowlege than me--even if I have the equipment, I am certainly not a computer guy
