DD1's or DD2's ?????????

After posting "DD2's, EZ & Engine Longevity" and reading everything you guys have talked about regarding the timing with the EZ and the DD injectors... ... I do not know what to do. So with that mentioned... ... ... ... I will let you guys decide for me. Full DTT goes in on the 29th of September. 89% TC. My income relies on this truck and hoping to get another 300,000 miles out of it. I am liscensed for 36,000 GCVW. Mojority of the time I am at 30,000 or less. I have the EZ and now trying to make up my mind on injectors. Got to make the descision by the end of today. Diesel Dynamics 20% TDR Discount ends today. So do I go for the DD1's or DD2's?

Jason,

Since you're already getting the DTT upgrades, you might as well go with the DD2's. I had the same dilema last year and I have been more than pleased with the 2's.

Good luck

NoCalH. O. PO,

Do you tow? If so how much weight? What are you seeing for EGT's while towing? I have a stock exhaust and am worried about EGT's.

Jason

I have the 1s and love em. Having said that AZCUMMINS was up here (Laramie ~ 7200') and he has same set up but DD2s. He smoked less and has more power. If I didn't get such a good deal on the 1s I would have saved for the DD2s.

I would be mildly concerned about towing that heavy without some intake/exhaust mods. If you do any of this towing at higher elevations expect considerably higher EGTs. Good luck!

Jason,

Why not, you've almost got me talked into it just from reading your posts the last couple of days :-laf :-laf :-laf .

Todd

DD2's smoke less, and way more power! On your question about longevity... I worried a little about that too-for same reason. My truck in needed every day... my income depends on it. I ran many searches and saw no, repeat no comments on hurting or wearing out a CTD engine. As long as your reasonably smart and watching your gauges, I think it's almost impossible!

And the DTT upgrade is the best of all - truly amazing!

I'll let you know. I currently have stock injectors with an EZ, BHAF and 4" exhaust. Max pre-turbo exhaust temperature towing our 13,500 lb 5th wheel RV is 1100 degF @ 30 PSIG boost - obviously, I'm "over-aired" and could use more fuel.

I've ordered a set of DD2's - if my highest EGT's come back to no more than my stock values of 1300 degF (that, however, was at 22 PSIG boost) with the additional BHP the DD2's will add, I'll be one happy camper (literally)! Oo.

Rusty

Well I had to place the order before close of business today and I ordered the DD1's for fear of high EGT's... ... ... . Now you all make me wish I had got the DD2's.

Jason

Why is it that the DD1's smoke more than the DD2's? I would think it would be the other way around. Any of you automatic guys dyno'ed with EZ and DD1's, EZ and DD2's?

Jason

Smokers

May have misspoken. Was working from memory-cant find thread I was looking for but I remember hearing a smaller injector smoked more than DD2's. may have been the 275's.

I remember the same thing, same reason I went with DD2's.

Maybe more nozzel holes than the DD1's but smaller for better atomization. Would have to ask DD if this is true.

I "over air'ed" mine intentionally so would have the best possible combustion efficiency.

I would have done the 2's.

My right foot does a splendid job of controlling EGT's in my current overfueled situation. Downshift or lift, works every time.

But hey, it's a Cummins, put 50,000 miles on the DD1's and then try DD2's for 50,000 miles--no big rush. ;)

That was my descision Wade... ..... I went ahead with the DD1's and see how they work out with the EZ and the EGT's. Then will go from there. I do about 50k miles a year so I can live a year with the DD1's..... Now that the DTT is on its way the power bugs seem to be getting worse. :D
