we just had a large contract delayed in fairfax county, va because of the events in sept. i say events because thats the only way i can describe what happened without really getting on a rant. in our little business in the souhern part of the state, we knew that there would be some indirect hits, but not us, not before the holidays. this can be a really sorry holiday season, or we can look on the other side of this coin. sure, the presents wont be as expensive as lasts years, and the christmas bonus may have gone out the window, but we're still here. there are thousands upon thousands of families that have lost much more than most of us will ever really realize. if it comes down to pbj sandwiches for our holiday meals from now on, all of us should realize that thats the price that WE have to pay . the day that our military, along with the "allies" that actually stick with us, through the next months and years, do what they always have done, and totally defeat the enemy. we can all have a feast, and toast our friends that are in a better place, and im sure they will return the toast. :)

Pacman, Sorry this happened to you. I know it's tough, but I gotta tell you, I like your attitude. I'm working with 24 other Reservists who have been called to active duty for one year. Getting into this groove is tough. Pay cuts, pay problems, and all the other stuff that goes with being activated can try one's patience. But we are sticking with it. We will do what we have to do to make it work. I've never seen morale better nor a "can do" attitude so strong. Yeah, it's inconvenient. Being away from the family at holidays through no fault of our own. Most with pay cuts. Going from when you are off, you are free to being granted liberty. I hope your contract delay is short. I hope your holidays are long and safe. I hope nothing like this ever happens again, but if it does, I hope to have you guys around to watch my back. Happy Thanksgiving.

Sorry Packman! Attitude (a good one) helps). I know I am backing this response of Americal to the evil doers for how long it takes and no matter what sacrifices may be asked of me. There is no other way that would satisfy me. There are tougher days ahead but the outcome will be bright. Good luck

Story

It can be one of the best times of our lives. I remember when I first got out of the service. I got a job and my first wife and I moved into a three room apartment. We didn't have much and when she turned up pregnant,we thought we were going to go under. I did not have insurance and the pay was not the best.

I can remember getting off work the day before X-mas (pay day)and rushing to the store. I bought a string of lights,a six pack of beer, and some plastic champagne glasses. We strung the lights and poured the beer in the plastic glasses. We toasted the season and found something that could never be found again.

All the years that followed, the better pay,the more expensive presents, and the bigger home, just could not beat that first X-mas together!Remember that they cannot take the true spirit of X-mas from us.
