changed my fuel filter today, as I have for many years, 97 stocker, ... . started it up, it ran good for about two minutes, then started stumbling, like it had air , then died... nothing more, won't start. noticed that the ORANGE wire from the drivers side was fried, but the blue wire was ok, changed the connector anyway. not getting fuel to my injector lines out of the pump. Anybody know what might be going on? I have fuel out of the banjo bolt at the pump. B Clement

Sent you a quick e-mail, but since then, I have determined that the fuel solenoid is functioning in the start mode, so, since it was stumbling like air in the system, maybe I don,t know how to bleed it properly. Brad

I didn't get an email from you. Just click on this: -- email address removed --

Have you tried opening the fuel canister top and filling the fuel filter canister with known clean diesel fuel. Reinstall the top (bare in mind some fuel will over flow over the sides when you thread the top down. Torque it. Next loosen the banjo on the IP and then have someone bump the starter while you hold the schrader valve open let plenty of fuel come out onto a rag. Try and see if it will now start. Had the same thing happen to me the first time I changed the fuel filter. I got plenty of fuel out of the schrader valve but there was an air pocket or bubble in the fuel filter canister. These lift pumps don't have the power to self prime the fuel system.

r&r'ed the pre-filter, and the main filter also, went thru the priming/bleeding process again... ... . and it STARTED! have only changed about 15 of these, and will never figure this one out.
