Are you guys noticing a few psi loss in boost? I've only had my boost gauge since this winter so I've only had it during cold weather...

It seems that I was making a few more PSI when it was close to freezing... and now my boost has lowered a bit with the new 75* weather.

This makes sense since the air is less dense...

Are you guys noticing the same thing?

where is it 75 It's been 40 here by toledo last couple of days we did have 65 last week. When it is warm my boost is down a little

Gettin' warmer??

Yesterday it was -10*F. the day before it was -11*F. , 3cyl. idle still working. At least the days are getting longer.

We've been flirting with 80 for a while, here- nearly a month. NEver had much winter. And no, I havent really noticed a drop in boost, but then, it never got real cold. I do run cooler EGT in cooler weather.

Here in the northeast when the weather gets cold, they cut the fuel... then when the weather gets warm again, we get good fuel.

Perhaps ther's a balancing factor of sorts there?

But I do know that on 80 + degree days I lose a few psi of boost.

And on those early autumn days that are cold and rainy and we still have full strength fuel, my truck runs so much stronger... . noticably so. It loves cold damp air (but I don't!)

Never noticed too much diff in EGT... . my guess is that it may be close to linear... ie... +50 degrees ambient would be approx + 50 in EGT.

cold air

It IS an air density thing. Aircraft perform better in cold weather from improved lift as well as stronger HP. Used to drive a C model Mack that was noticably stronger in cold and even more so in cold wet weather.

We have already had a close encounter with 80 degrees in south Georgia. Someone left the big doors open in Tenn and the cold blew back in. Playing with mid thirties in this "black berry winter". Been down to Orland several times recently and it is plenty warm there.

It was about this time last year that my wife and I headed out for Anchorage. I hear the Yucon calling. I understand from my niece in Anchorage that this has been a Loooong cold winter with a reinfforceing blast right here at the end.
