Agree. I wore my OEM hitch out with a small 6K lb TT on dirt roads. In less than 10K miles of towing the hitch opening was 2. 25x2. 125 and rattled horribly, and the pin hole was 50% oversized. . talk about a NOISY tow on a dirt road.



With the Titan 2. 5 with a welded 2" sleeve I think I will be hard pressed to enlarge the opening, and if I ever do I can just weld a new 2" sleeve in there. The pin hole now has nearly an inch of contact on either side and shouldn't ever wear out either.

It all boils down to there are 2 camps. The one I'm in where we tend to overbuild things without regard to cost (within reason of course) because we don't want a failure.



My best friend is in the other camp where nothing ever gets fixed until it breaks. Heck, his transmission gives him 3rd gear only half the time for the last 3 months but he's 'waiting it out'.



Not sure what is different in our DNA's but I would NEVER 'wait it out'. I just couldn't. I'd be building a bulletproof transmission so I'd never have to deal with it again.



If I could be honest with myself there's probably a happy medium somewhere that is the better place to be but I'm probably not going to change at this age so I'll just keep overbuilding.

I too fall into the preventative category. . that and I don't ever want to be stuck somewhere with the family because I went the cheap route.

Bolted my Titan up today. What a hitch! Now I just have to decide on a replacement OEM bumper or a Fusion.

I live in the same area as TORQ LIFT (Central) builds/installs there SUPER HITCHES

that have the TWO receiver holes



Many people run those TORQ LIFT Central Ball Mount extensions, when they have Campers extending over the rear bumper. Curious if anyone runs an extension hith with

that TITAN hitch, or in this case is the two hole extension structurally better/stronger ?

The 2 2" receiver is just a different setup, and works quite well. Both the Titan and Super Hitch can run 48" extensions.

I don't think I would use a 48" extension for anything more than a step. Thats 9' from rear axle centerline.

If you need more than a class 4 hitch wouldn't you be exceeding the tow capacity of the truck?

Class 4 weight carrying is 1000/10,000 gross.

Class 4 weight distribution is 1200/12,000 gross

It seems that Dodge put on the hitch that most closely matches the truck specifications. Where's the problem?

My Weekend Warrior max out at 13000.
