Mine works GREAT!

I have the same hitch. It's the handiest thing since sliced bread. Very convenient and handy. Leveling-out my loads is MUCH quicker.





You will love it too. Get USING it.



PS: I grease the ball with a couple squirts from a grease gun every time I use it and then wipe it off when I'm done so that dust doesn't build up on it. This really helps reduce the metal on metal friction/grabing under heavy loads.

I just bought one of those bad boys 2 months ago. Very nice setup, 1000lb load on the ball I believe. I first saw it at a trailer supply place here in town for like $213, bought one on e-bay for $135 and 2 lockable pins were $40 extra.

I have one too, but flat instead of polished. When i shopped around, a year ago, it was the only ball mount available on the shelf that matched the factory hitch capacity (10k# trailer/1k# tongue). You'll like it. Dan

Leveling Hint...

Once you have the trailer hooked up (and depending on the weight)...



Leave the hitch locked onto the ball,



Lower the trailer's lift jack so that it releaves the pressure on the horizontal pin that holds the ball assembly to the gear-type flat plate (with the receiver tube welded to the reverse side),



Remove the horizontal pin,



Again, use the trailer jack to lift or lower the entire ball assembly up or down on the on the flat gear-type flat plate.



Once you have it at the desired height, replace the horizontal pin and you're done. No need to keep backing on and off the trailer and remove the trailer from the ball over and over just to raise or lower the anchor point a bit.



Slick and easy.

I like mine because I can turn the ball to the inside when not useing it. Keeps me from raming my shins on the ball. I also have four trailers, all different heights, so it's great.

The hitch does have a small amount of slop as this design needs

to. Have not towed with it yet but maybe this weekend. I'll report

Yes, some slop. But by design and only when unloaded. Once loaded up they're rock solid.



I guess they could slop when loaded with a lighter weight trailer load, but all of mine has been heavy use and once the hitch is locked down there's no way slop could occur.

I think I need to call the manufacturer. I emailed a couple online vendors asking if/how I could get three balls for it, I want 1 7/8" as well, they said they only had the larger two.

Steve, my truck squats 3'' (making the truck level front to rear) with my pace shadow enclosed trailer with a bigblock car loaded in it (app 9000lbs). For the trailer to be level I have the ball set on the topmost slot on the Rapid Hitch.

On a 4x4 (which the back end is 3, probably 4", higher then the receiver on a 2x4) - you still will have 2 slots left to go lower after setting it to equate to leveling a trailer like mine.



However my open car trailer loaded is on the 4 th or 5th slot from the bottom. Which means that towing that with your truck the Ball would be set probably on the bottom slot of a 6" Rapid hitch. With my trailer unloaded... the bottom slot on your truck will tilt the trailer back somewhat.



For a 4x4 and a shorter/lightweight trailer you will need the 10" hitch to keep the trailer level.



Just to note: the pic he posted at the top of the thread shows the 2" ball set at the 3rd slot from the bottom. I also got the 1 7/8" ball - they are available.

I run an 8" drop with 4. 5" lift and 37" tires... fits most normal trailers (19"-20") tomgue height. Of course every trailer is different, but 6" drop with no lift should be fine.

My Rapid Hitch unloaded is 12" from the ground to the bottom edge. Loaded with that pace trailer I described above it's 9" from the ground. My tires and suspension are bone stock.



With the 4x4 receiver being app. 4" higher than the 2x4 (stock tires / suspension) the ground clearance should be about the same. Go to a dealer and measure the receiver height difference for an exact comparison.
