I ran a Harvester in the mid '90s for a couple months. These machines are very impressive. Only problem we ran across, the hot saw on the bottom of the unit is pretty tempermental.

There is far more forest land in the U. S. today than there was in 1900. There are also (on average)larger trees on these forested parcels then there were in the 1960's. Timber volumes are up and harvesting is down,thanks in part to cheap imports from foreign lands where there are weak environmental regs. So much for the greenies putting their money where their mouths are.
