Ordered and sold by our Westbrook, Maine dealership.

What an animal. I don't have all the details yet other than it is the only truck that Western Star has ever built in this particular configuration. They said that it couldn't be done at first but then figured it out.

I will share more as I learn more. I did see the engineering diagrams when it was ordered but something else to see it sitting at our place.

WOW, not often do you see tandem steering on other than a Mack. What's up with the outriggers? They go clear across? Not much clearance when stowed. More info on the boom- does that swing? Not a city rig for sure! What's for power?

I bet it is alot closer to a million then you would think. The power company trucks we work on are 300k and they are toys compared to that thing. One of our customers said he was looking at a new logging truck and pup trailer at just over 300k. Hell it's 50-70k for a pickup truck.

Looks like the boom is swung off to the right side.
TV show the "Highway thru hell", the wrecker owner had a new rig built and it was over a million. Super heavy everything took over a year for him to get it. they recover slide offs, wrecks, all heavy haul semi's.

Fire trucks now run a quarter million for an entry level full size pumper. Anything custom and the price goes through the roof.

Definitely looks like a full rotator assembly judging by the counter weight being attached to the boom section.

Distracted and somewhat poorer.....

On the bright side the dog used his new "Doggles" Saturday.....,..so he is making the most of my spending spree,.....,

TowPro, a local company here in Nashville, has one. I saw it the other day on the way home.

No sweat, Mike, whenever you get around to it. I saw a heavy-haul(not on this scale)wrecker go through town, and it reminded me about this thread. I love big iron.

I believe that I should have used the term "Recovery Vehicle".....I think that is a more accurate description of these super sized units.

If they can lift a loaded truck / trailer back into the road without unloading or causing any damage it is money well spent for the trucking company and the insurance carrier.
