Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm new on here, but I've got a question that kinda baffles me. Back in October I bought a 1996 1-ton Dodge, with the Cummins 12valve in it. At the time it had 181,000 miles. I installed a 270hp fuel control plate, upgraded the turbo so I'm pushing approx 33-34lbs max boost and these trans upgrades. I purchased a new torque converter from Suncoast Converters, valve body and a torque converter lock up switch. I haven't gotten the torque converter in yet due to the size of the job, but the other items are in and functional.
The problem I have is this: When the torque converter lock up switch is on, the transmission will, under a light load go into OD(4th gear) at as low as 35mph, effectivly lugging the engine. If I get on it a bit it'll downshift like it should, but I don't want OD to come in till about 45-47 if possible. Anyone have any ideas? I've checked my wheel speed sensor up to the trans control unit, the
wiring is all good. Am I looking at a TPS issue or is this just an issue due to the switch?
I'm a Mercedes-Benz Technician in Minnesota, so the only exposure to these issues is with my own truck. Any and all ideas are appreciated. (I hope I can find my way back to this post to hear your replies!!)
Thanx
