Now what?

I finally picked up my truck. It's a white 2001 QC 4x4 LWB ETH. What a beautiful truck. It doesn't pull, brakes are great, no loose bolts that I have been able to find but it did have the cap on the fuel tank vent port. It wasn't red, it was black in color. I pulled it off and the tank sucked in air for about 30 seconds. Should there be a vent hose here or is it just left open? I don't plan on crossing any deep rivers or mud bogs intentionally but I know on my 91 Dodge there was quite a bit of crud that accumulated on the top of the tank. I also like to hose off the undercarriage and would think that some water may get in the tank from that.
I am so impressed by the power of the truck, especially when compared to my 91. Felt like a friggin race car. The defining moment was when we were pulling a grade in the Sierra's and my girlfriend says, "This thing feels like it just wants to keep going".

Pat,isn't all that power great?!Wait till you bomb it!My daugher is afraid to drive mine,she says the power scares her. It wouldn't hurt to slip a foot long piece of tubing over the vent,it might help prevent crud from getting sucked in.

Make sure you didn't uncap the auxiliary fuel fitting. There are two unused fittings, the rollover valve which is the small one and at a 90 deg. angle and the aux. fitting which sticks straight up and is larger. The rollover valve is the one they were leaving capped and causing problems I think.
