Kits offer Cummins upgrades for Ford Super Duty trucks

Jul 6, 2010 12:22 PM

Ford Super Duty truck owners can now upgrade their 6. 0L and 6. 4L PowerStroke engines to Cummins diesel power with a repowering kit from independent repowering converter FordCummins.com.

According to FordCummins.com, it offers the parts and expertise to upgrade Super Duty models to the 5. 9L Cummins six-cylinder diesel, which it said can attain 20 mpg. The repowering kit offers conversions for all three 5. 9L Cummins models – the 12-valve, 24-valve and Common Rail. Parts, which include transmission adapters, transmission controllers, bolt-in moto-rmount sets, gauge adapters and modified wiring harnesses, are also available individually.

Comprehensive tech support is available to assist with the conversion process. Installation manuals cover Navistar-diesel and gas-powered 1969-97 Ford F-trucks, full-sized SUVs, and Ford E-series vans; a second manual is for 1999-current pickups and Excursions. An instructional video is currently in production.

Conversion kits are also available for Hummers and Chevy trucks and SUVs.

Why go through all that time trouble and expense when you can just buy a Dodge truck with a Cummins already in it. Dodge is a better truck anyway.
