Dodge Hybrid W/ Cummins

I've rarely seen such an outpouring of sympathy and support for someone, as has been demonstrated by all of the TDR members, friends and aquiantances at HVAC's passing ... .

One post, on one of the HVAC threads, had an absolutely GREAT idea. .

I've spoken to Piers Harry of PDR and he would be willing to offer strong moral support for something along this line...

A "Comemorative (and/or Event) Nowel Thomas Award" perhaps for outstanding contributions to the diesel sport industry.

Something along this line would be an outstanding way to recognize the selfless and enthusiastic contribution(s) Nowel made to our sport/industry.

Since one of the most common theme's that seem to personify Nowel's contributions is, his desire to help anyone and everyone without demanding payment that should make up a large part of the criteria for receiving an award of this nature.

I was just thinking about this actually.

Nowel was smart as a whip, and maybe a scholarship can be made of any money that is not spent on his medical bills?

The winner each year must be in some kind of trade school for diesel work, or something along those lines. This would rule me out, and several other young college going members, but I'm not in school for diesel mechanic stuff. Even if it's only $500, that's books or some needed tools for some. Only seems right.

Any thoughts?

That's a thought.....

I was thinking of something that is handed out at the end of a large event, like say, Thunder in Muncie, and or other notable events.

Someone who has made outstanding contributions to the sport, stayed till after the sun went down to help you get back on the road/track/competition, eg: I pull the parts off my truck to give to you so you can finish the day/event or whatever... .

I'm sure there will be a number of great "criteria" to come from those who knew him best... .

If you guys decide you do want to go forward with the scholarship thing, let me know. I have a pretty good wealth of knowledge available to me if you guys need any info
