I'm wondering if anyone out there is running an NP435 4spd trans behind a Cummins, I'm not worried about the OD because I know where I can get and OD unit to fit. Any ideas where to find an adapter, I'm thinking Advance Adapters.

Also check with Novak, and there is another adapter source, I believe the name is something like Rube's. Maybe search the web on that or look in the small ads in the back of the 4WD magazines. I know I have seen their ad there in the past.

Does anyone know if the Cummins bellhousing pattern is the same as the Dodge V8's? Weren't 435's used in Dodge trucks? If so, it might be a factory item you could find at a junkyard. Or, maybe you've checked this out already...

Good luck.

FWIW, When I converted my '75 F250 4x4 highboy to a 6. 9, I left the NP 435 in it to start with. Atleast *with that engine* I found the split between the gears to be inefficient. There is quite a gap going from 2nd to 3rd. If you are going to run a splitter, that might solve the problem. I ended up putting a BW T18 (or T19- I forget) in that came from a diesel. The BW was much harsher shifting and unfriendly than the NP but was spaced correctly.

As I understand it the Cummins, V10 and the small block V-8 all shared the same bell-housing bolt pattern. I believe even the 3. 9V-6 shared this as well.

Wrong

cummins and v10 are the same. . gas small block different. gas big block different, gas inline six different. end of story.
