I've looked, never could find a torqe rating for the 205, anyone know?, or got an opinion? the in- out shafts look awfull small compared to the 5600 output. Bob

not sure of the input size of the np205 but there are different versions of it the cummins dodge first gen version is supposedly the beefyist ha . . im not sure what is bigger? bearings? shafts? etc. . i do know the np205's gear driven case is stronger then the nv241hd s chain... most of the bad ass offroad trucks use the np205 etc. . any body else have input on this?

thanks

I don't recall exact numbers right now but most 205s are rated around or a bit above the 241 which is rated at around 1000 ft lb on some hocus pocus scale that New Venture used. It does not seem to correlate to engine torque directly. The 241HD is rated at 1400 and this is matched by one version of the 205 if I recall correctly. While the aluminum case doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, remember that the bearing retainers/end plates of the 205 are also aluminum.

For whatever reason, my 241HD is stock, original, unmodified and still holding up. I do change the ATF at least every 15,000 miles.

Me too. 150,000.

Been pullling on the high side this year, it has to ka-chunk here soon enough, I'm sure.
