Hey Gang!

I've been taking notes on the great "Amsoil" VS "LE" lubricants debate in the 'Product forum' for differentials. I'm interested in running Amsoil in my NP205 transfer case but I'm unsure of what goes in T-case. I haven't received my service manual yet & the owners manual hasn't been much help.

I have read in the other forum that ATF is required for the 1994+ crowd but what's the hot synthetic set up for the bullet proof 205's? Since the 205's are gear driven, I would assume gear oil is required and my owners manual list about four different weights.

I realize this might be somewhat of an elementary question but I know the TDR members can provide the best guidance.

My truck is run empty most of the time with the majority of my driving being done on the interstates of the Southeast.

I have Synthetic 85W-140 in my rears and X-fer case.

KEENO,
The book on NP205 calls for two different oils.
First they call for a GL-5 gear oil;
Above 90 deg F SAE 140
Above -10 deg F SAE 90
Below -10 deg F SAE 80w

Second they call for a motor oil SG/CC,SC,CD;
Above 32 deg F SAE 50
Below 32 deg F SAE 30

The best for this application would be the LE #607. Lowest wear with the ability to take the noise out.

Hope this helps. Sincerely, Kevin
