Dealer service department replaced my NP241 XFR case on 11/5 @ 33,380 miles due to leak that could not be stopped. Truck was down for one week waiting on replacement part.

At 34,152 miles, new XFR case is leaking.

Problem: Fluid leaking does NOT appear to be ATF.

First attempt to repair, dealer sealed and filled with 5 quarts Part # CMC 05010124AA FLUID AFT TRANS AFT. (Dexron III ATF).

For the replacement XFR case, dealer filled with 1 Part # CMC 05013458AA FLUID TRANSMISSION.

Fluid that is leaking is clear, thick, and smells like manual transmission fluid. Truck does not shift as smooth as before XFR case was changed.

Anyone know what fluid Part # CMC 05013458AA is?

I hate a leaking vehicle!

Thanks.

My NV4500 leaked through the output shaft seal filling the area between the xfer case and the transmission. It was some mystery overpressure problem that also cost me a clutch by blowing thorugh the front seal too. Vent was clear. If your transmission is puking fluid out the vent on to the top of the transmission this could be you. I got a reman from standard transmission in Fort Worth, TX. You might call them and see if they have an idea on the pressure thing if this is what you find. They build a lot of them.

Was transmission output seal. Fluid was synthetic transmission that was leaking.

Dealer replaced seal this morning and I already have truck back.

BTW - Dealer is now using ATF4 for XFR case.
