Does anybody believe that when the RED's were defeated ( not Cincy ) that they didn't turn into the GREEN environmentalists? Global Warming, carbon offset trading, protected species and such will ruin us as we ruined the USSR.

Yeah, that's why they're called "Watermellon Environmentalists. " They're green on the outside, and RED on the inside.

It's reported in the mainstream media that due to the high price of gas and fuel and its inflationary effect on the cost of goods,that even the Democrats are demanding domestic drilling. Whichever candidate responds to the people's wishes will win this one. Four year freshman Sen. Obama (of which 1 1/2 years has been spent running for president) reiterated today that his sixteen month withdrawal plan from Iraq will remain intact even after consulting with the commanders. "Don't bother me with the facts. I don't want to **** off Code Pink. ":{

OBAMANATION, seems appropriate to me. If he gets in it will take decades to repair the damage.

Dang, that's what I said about Heir Bush... Man, is this country in great shape under his leadership or what?

Gosh, I wish he could run for 4 more years...

(I am not an Obama fan either, just want to keep things real)

Plus, I believe in drilling, nuclear, solar and wind power...

What's wrong with this country? Is life that bad here?

WELL, Phil - it sorta depends upon what you are comparing against - I can assure you that what is taken for granted and meekly submitted to in this country today, is a far cry from what we enjoyed freely 50 years ago - but most on forums like this are too young to know any different... :(

No, as a matter of fact, it is not.

Actually life is great here compared to the rest of the world but the world is constantly changing and some folks are ill-prepared to deal with the changes. We are now part of a worldwide economy and a worldwide system of manufacturing goods. We now have other countries competing with us to produce manufactured goods and are demanding the same resources we need. That fact provides lots of competition we formerly didn't have to deal with. Some industries will fail and be replaced, others will prosper.

We, unfortunately, are going to be forced to deal with higher costs for fuel. We are not currently very well equipped to deal with increased competition. We have a group of liberal socialists who know nothing of the challenges we face running our government and are anti-business so we are currently handicapped.

As a nation we have the ability to deal with a crisis and we have always been able to compete and win. I am confident that we can continue to do so but right now we are having growing pains and some would rather blame the president and believe nonsensical lies than roll up their sleeves and get busy solving our problems.

Amen to both of the above statements. Guess I'm just tired of the complacency of people here that think they have it so bad, but still want to create more red tape that interferes with our "doing something about it" and giving away the things we've worked for. You both reflected on my way of thinking as well. We do need to keep ourselves in a position to where WE control our destiny. The current president is not the cause of every problem that is sensationalized by the news media and causing a lot of people to think we are in a situation of no hope & disaster and the world overheating, etc. Heck, I was just on the Hawaiian State govie webpages watching the sulphur dioxide that is POURING out of those volcanoes constantly, 24 hrs a day. And WE are getting blamed for "supposedly" heating up the earth. Like a friend just told me. He just paid 11. 00 per gallon of diesel on his visit to Europe. Think we have it rough...
