Washington State Veterans

Pretty upset how the NRA has treated it's members in Cali. They gave no support to to us as we were trying to defeat the latest gun/ammo issues. Am I wrong in being disgusted with them?

Same thing happened here in wash. You would not believe the gun law here. If you let your brother hold your rifle and take a shoot, technically you can be arrested and to to jail. When this law was up for vote the nra did nothing. No ads, no money to stop it, etc. Keep in mind that wash, although very blue, is a very gun heavy state. Technically you can walk down the main streets of seattle with your rifle and not be arrested or harrased. The nra only wants your money.

I was thinking on Washington state to retire but a lot is going to do with gun rights . Hope Trump can have some say so on what these states are doing. The progressives are taking over all the conservative states.

If you're not from here, I wouldnt retire here. Lots of new people coming in (illegals, refugees, high paid tech workers, etc). Its getting to be very expensive to live here and there are now just too many people. There are a lot of long time residents leaving because of that. I would be gone but my kids and grandkids live here. Oh well.

Its just like the Conservatives, they have left us high and dry here in The Peoples Republic of California as well.

I'm a staunch supporter of the NRA, and will continue to be. At times I've felt that they have done nothing, while other times, we find out that they've been covertly working behind the scenes with other legal associations such as the CRPA (California Rifle and Pistol Assc), CalGunsFoundation, etc.

Do they habitually hound us for donations? Yes. Do they waste tons on junk mail? Yes. Are they fighting against anti propaganda that has access to the deepest pockets under the sun? Yes.

Not one of us alone can fight these bills alone. We don't have the funds, the outreach or the legal representation. We just can't. We need the NRA, CRPA and the like, and we need to support them both monetarily and in the field.

My youngest has been in 4H for 2 years now, and recently started a trap shoot project. I knew the gun leader was stretched thin, so I ponied up some time so that I could become an approved firearms leader. When we get back from NFR in Dec, I will be teaching my first ever hunter safety course. I know it's not much, but I filled a soon to be gap so that we can continue to get children their hunter safety cert locally, instead of a stupid computer. Our children are our future....

Maybe Australia would still have rights to own firearms if they had an NRA.

Kudos to you Brother !
Unfortunately there are many young-uns nowadays that have no interest in the shooting sports, unless it's on a computer game then they are Gung-Ho..
I live in PA a big Deer hunting state and most of the hunters I talk to say their kids have no interest in hunting, therefore fewer youngsters in the sport.
The NRA has many activities to get the younger generation interested, hopefully they are successful in their efforts.

Foxy005 brought up an excellent point. Lack of interest, both in hunting and shooting. This is a focus point for us to zero in on because if we don't keep our kids and grandkids interested and excited, we will succumb to similar laws that Australia has passed. Eventually, the mindset will change and people in general will shift their thoughts on firearms and probably hunting as well.

As a poor example....gay marriage. The state of California voted gay marriage down twice, but yet the advocates kept hounding and hounding on all angles. Eventually the courts caved and overruled the peoples vote, and the public laid down like dogs. Nowadays, I rarely come across anyone, regardless of background. which will cast a vote against gay marriage. They've all been groomed to the point of persuasion.

Fast forward to the 2016 elections in Ca. Hi-cap mags, bullet buttons, ammo background checks etc. State legislature was smart enough to allow public vote. After years of propaganda, and misconstruing info, legislatures eventually changed the mindset of the public to vote for any anti firearm bill under the sun. A lot of people and families have moved away from Ca, and a lot of pro 2A people have given up because of the endless amount law(s) that continue to pass in the name of public safety. Again, they've groomed people to the point of persuasion.

I don't necessarily like that the NRA doesn't pull the trigger for every piece of crap law that this state wants to pass. But even I know that I must pick my battles, and I believe that's what the NRA is doing now. I could be wrong. Nonetheless, if I was a legal rep for the NRA, I would never list or publicly announce my intentions. It would be kept under my hat, and I would unleash only when needed. Again, this is how I believe the NRA reps in Ca operate.

I will reiterate that I don't always agree with the NRA, but I have zero intentions of abandoning them or their affiliates. Without them, we might as well call the 2A dead and turn in our firearms.

Received this email from CRPA this morning.

I'm not sure how much I place on the NRA for the stupidity of CA because federal law is still in affect. Just because CA goes on their rampant liberal agenda moves doesnt mean federal guns dont still apply to you. That said, yes you'd have a legal battle on your hands if you ran into a contested issue but I think thats where the NRA would more come into play.

I just paid the NRA for 3YR membership and they sent me a bullet pen made in China. .MADE IN CHINA....not happy with them either.

The only problem with that, is that I'll be long gone from this Communist State, before any action is taken and won through the courts. Its not just the Gun Laws here (Commifornia) but its the high taxes they keep imposing on us and steal from worthy taxes that are for real problems, but they pay for the Communist Party Cronies pet projects. An example of how they do this, is the lottery taxes that WERE for the added funding of our schools, so the Communists cut back the normal amount allotted, and then used the lottery to fund them. Because by the law, the money gained from the lottery could only go towards schools. I'm ready to retire in the next couple of years and I cant wait to get the hell out of here. This is just one example of what they pull here. I still don't get how we keep needing money for fire and police every election under the excuse that there's not enough money.

NRA is nowhere in NY unless they're silent and deep. The only drive is at a show or something. I haven't had the extra scratch for them since the kids came, but once I retire out of here, I may get involved again.

I think the east coast has it just as bad as the west coast with firearm laws.

I think the progressive agenda drives this all over. NY has silly things like what defines an assault weapon (thumb holes, pistol grips) and a 5 limit mag. I wanted to buy a 22 plinker but couldn't. Gander wouldn't sell me anything that wasn't born with a 5rd mag (they've been burned) so I got a 223 instead. What I went through just to possess would turn away a busy man.
The earlier post about holding someone else's rifle being a crime is unbelievable, but here we are!

Our laws regarding centerfire semi auto gas piston rifles are similar. However, the state hasn't completely neutered us yet, but it's coming. Rim fire are excluded, yet 10 round capacity mags are still in effect.
