I know this is in the wrong thread (no pun intended), but does anyone out there have the formula for calculating the major diameter of a numbered screw (i. e. #10-32 screw)? I have what all the sizes are, I just don't remember the formula. TIA.
 
I love TDR, my friends would have ribbed me for knowing that... . The typical "smart@ss".

I find it easier myself just to use a bolt and thread gauge,but it is good to know there is some sort of system to the numbered sizes.

I was scratching my head just the other day about the same thing... . I knew there was a formula, but couldn't find it.

I'm gonna write the formula down on the shop wall. Can't paint the wall--too much info there!! #ad
