I was on the way home tonight (in the rain keep in mind) pulled out at the light easy and there went that bang in the trans I've been DREADING. This happened about 2 years ago, below is the destruction from that wreck. I ordered a new countershaft, 3rd gear, upgraded mainshaft, syncro's and bearings. When I ordered the parts I asked about a better alloy gear and countershaft. NO SUCH LUCK. Then when I got the parts 3rd said made in India and I bet the counter is no different. That was all that was available. Does any one know of better parts out there yet. If I can't get better parts this time I will be forced to drop back on injector size

Every transmission is rated for a given hp and torque. If you exceed the rating it will break. If you want to extend the life of the transmission, keep out of the throttle in the lower gears. For a long term fix, either de-rate the engine (less HP and torque) or put in a stronger transmission. Just depends on what you want to do.

Try Bluementhal and Standard Gear. Those are the two supply houses I know of.

That trans should be able to take all the power you are making. Probably crap parts made it pop again. I roasted a 4500 but only the synchros with about the power you are making. I then switched to a 5600. If you want it I will cut you deal on it. I am putting in an auto. PM me if your interested. It would come with my SBC 3850 clutch.

I know a few people who have chryo treated the transmission parts in both 5 and 6 speeds and have all but eliminated gear failures.
