NV-4500 Gear Oil Change

Greetings:



The service manual indicates that a sealant should be applied to the threads of the PTO cover bolt that is removed to drain the gear oil. Has anyone used Permatex No. 2 Adhesive/Sealant for this application? I also have some 3M black Silicone Sealant. I would just as soon get it right the first time so I don't have any leaks. Thanks for your help.

I used the recommended thread sealant and it still leaks, not sure if its the drain bolt or maybe the PTO cover plate gasket material leaking around where the drain bolt is. Next time I will remove the whole plate and apply the recommended gasket maker to the cover and the sealant to all the bolt threads.
