Well, I got a rebuilt transmission installed,added a temperature gauge and installed a pair of Fast coolers. When I was talking to different folks about why my transmission was howling 15,000 miles after a bearing kit and I had a guy tell me that it's because of the heat these NV 4500 build when towing heavy in 5th gear. I'm beginning to think there might be some truth to that statement. We drove 350 miles yesterday across SD at 70 MPH and the transmission temp was running about 180*. Today, on the return trip pulling our camper home the temp was about 210* - 215* at 65 MPH. I'm thinking that is too warm.....
