I have a 2001 3500 4x4 dually with nv 4500 5 speed pulling a 20 foot gooseneck cowtrailer. The edge with attitude setting was on extreme and driver was doing 70 with empty trailer from Corpus Christi to Houston Texas with outside day time temp at 100 degrees. I told the driver to change the setting to tow and slow down to 60 mph and moniter the temp closely on this run from corpus to orlando florida, the temp alarm was going off at 231 for about 15 minutes in downtown stop and go construction traffic in Houston. After the driver called me and slowed down to 65 it stayed at aroud 211 to 229 during the rest of the daylight run at 65 mph. At night the trans temp was around 162 to 175 with the edge on town and running 65 mph. After the truck got to Orlando and was un hooked from the empty 20 foot cow trailer it has been running around 130 degrees at 70 mph. . i changed the nv 4500 oil and overfilled it some with lucas sync. . Do you guys think this transmission is going out or are these reading similar to what your nv 4500 5 speed are showing on your edge with attitude screens?? I am thinking its about to blowup and strand my driver??? I have a week before its do to return on the 24 hour trip with a load of horses, think i need to replace transmission before it trys to come home?? Thanks for all and any coments!!!
