:( on a long trip, (just got back) my 5 speed (after working fine for 2200 miles) didn't want to go in gear when stopped. I struggled , and it went in gear real hard . When i shifted, it still was difficult, i had to match the rpms (like shifting a big truck) to shift (with the clutch). After about an hour, the transmission worked fine and has been working fine ever since (another 1000, `1200 miles to get home).

I just had changed the fluid (from amsoil to syntorg) at a very reputable dealer. (before the trip and before going 2200 miles or so) Could the fluid be low?? Might they not put in the syntorg (put in some inferior fluid instead)?? Or is something going (wrong)??Oo.

It's always tough when the problem goes away. Initially I would have said clutch or pilot bushing, but I wouldn't think they'd get better with more use.

You could always drain your transmission into a clean container (so you can re-use the fluid if you want) and see if it's contaminated with any metal from synchros.

clutch

Hope you don't have the same problem I did about 3 weeks ago.

I had exact same symtoms as you do. Clutch lasted 9 days after first symtom then BOOM it took a dump. The entire center of the disc exploded. Not a pretty site. New disc, pressure plate, release bearing & pilot bearing & everything is back to normal again. Rick

Maybe air in the clutch cylinder?? Its probably moved up the lines by now (hopefully).
