First, another thread entitled "Shifting Problems" is the direct fore runner of this one, its dated 6-1-03. This thread was started new to ensure the "Subject" would attract and advise as many members with the NV Standard Trans. as possible of this type of issue should they encounter similar problems.
After the writing of my first threat on this issue, I found that with the engine off the Transmission shifted completely normal with no sign of a problem.
Results/verdict: Today I returned my pickup back to the original installer of my new clutch and completely rebuilt transmission, The Transmission Shop in Gainesville, TX. I told them about the shifting when the pickup was turned off. Kenny stated it almost had to be the Clutch. After driving it he indicated he was sure that was the problem.
Upon Kenny and Donney removing the clutch, it was discovered the clutch had infact "seperated". There was no sign of slipping or burning. The Flywheel was just fine. My original factory clutch had lasted 122 K and was not in specific need of replacement when this replacement was done. I had not changed my driving habits (for the past 25 years
or the loads I tow. Because of the service the factory OEM clutch had given me and the experience and successful results this shop had seen over the years with the OEM clutch, I had them replaced it with a OEM clutch. In the multiudes of clutches this shop has done they stated they had never seen this type of failure. They directly replaced the clutch under warranty (without issue) and our pickup is back to where she has been all those miles before. The transmission was not an issue.
Yes I went back to the OEM clutch, though other options were discussed. With the service I have received up to this point and the uniqueness of this occurance will see but I think we just happened to get a bad one.
No issue or break down is a good one but should it happen it sure helps to have had the work done by real professionals, even if they have no STARS in their ratings (its better to have the stars doing the work on your pickup
.
Hope this might help some of you out there as many of your articles and the TDR have helped me in the past. THX.
