HiGuys, First time post. My son has a 2000 3500 with the five speed. Unfortunately the transmission is toast. Has anybody dealt with Standard Transmission on their 4500 rebuilds? Are they good to deal with, what about their quality, and warranty?

Thanks

I've never bought a rebuild from them but have purchased parts on a couple occations. The customer service was good, the guy I spoke with knew what he was talking about and I got the right parts the first time. There's something to be said for that.

What happened you you're son's transmission if I may ask? A bearing, seal, syncro install is not too difficult to do if that's all it needs.

Fifth gear is toast. First and Third appear to be about to go and reverse wil not stay in gear. I think he just wants to start from scratch with a remanned. He does a lot of pulling, tractors etc. He has 200,000 miles on the truck and this is the first real problem. He has only put one clutch in since he bought it. Ramtough truck.

I dont care what anyone says! Those 5spds are tough. I've heard Standard Transmissions does good work. However, I agree with Scott. Take a real good look at it. It might be something he can fix himself and save several hundred bucks.

Standard Transmission is great to work with, really good people. They also know these transmissions. I rebuilt my NV4500 with parts that I bought from them in 2003. Last month I had an issue that I discovered when the input shaft started leaking into the clutch. I found the root cause was a flaw in the rear iron casting that I purchased from them. That was 5 years and 60K ago, but after seeing the pictures of the problem, Joe ask me to send them the transmission and they would go through it - NO CHARGE! Now that is good customer service.

They will continue to get all my business from here out.

I got a new nv 4500 about 20,000 mi. from blumenthal heavy duty. I am real happy with the trans so far. they were real good to deal with... however it took about 5 months to get a refund on the core charge.

Hope that helps.
