I am getting ready to order the nv 5600 conversion from blumenthals. Have any of you done this? How is the swap. Is it worth the money? I do a lot of towing and would really like to have the 5600. Any info is helpfull

Dennis,

You don't have a signature, but I assume that you are converting from a 5-speed.

I encourage you to consider installing an auxiliary overdrive transmission instead of swapping to a 6-speed. You will have a 10-speed when you are done with a higher top gear (assuming you get an overdrive) than you have now. I understand that the cost is about the same as the 6-speed conversion.

Both US Gear and GearVendors make good units.

Good luck.

Make sure Blumenthal's sends you a transmission with all the synchros in it. My 2nd gear synchro has been out since it arrived in the crate a year ago. Now Reverse mysteriously went out... Good pulling transmission, but make sure they also remember to send you the proper bolts and nuts, and adaptor plates to do the swap. Ya see, I guess they got excited, and forgot to chunk a few things in the big crate! Good luck!
