Did some searching, and did not find clear answers for the 5600...

Which side does the Eaton filter mount on, driver or passenger?

Does it go top "up", or top "down"?

From what I found, it looks like it should go passenger side - top "up" (preferred), or drivers side - top "down". However, the posts I found (and the instructions from Genos) look like they are meant for the 4500. Is the 5600 different?

Also looks like it is preferred to remove the drivers side PTO because it is easier to clean the bottom of the housing. Will I have to remove both housings if the filter is to go on the passenger side?

Remove the PTO cover on the passenger side of the transmission. . Install the plate with the large bent out flap on the top and the flap towards the trans gears... It has been my experience that the cork gasket is next to worthless and more of a PITA then n e thing so when I installed mine I used black RTV... It is a bit of a chore to get the whole assenbly installed while keeping the filter centered on the locator button on the filter housing... Try gooping up the end of the filter with RTV and sticking it to the housing to help keep it in place...

There is no difference between the 4500 and 5600 as far as filter install goes... Yes it would be advisable to remove the drivers side cover to clean off the magnet. . On my truck the magnet was not accessable from the passenger side...

Thanks,

I'd concluded that I'll probably end-up taking both sides off (driver's side for cleaning sump, and passenger side for installing filter). I was wondering what to do about gaskets (only one with the kit). Sounds like I'm better off tossing the gaskets and using RTV.

Another Question...

How long does the RTV usually take to cure? Will the truck have to sit 24 hours before I pour-in the fluid?

When u spread the RTV on. . let it sit for about 5 min or so to let it get set up a lil bit then stick the parts together... After u get it on feel free to go ahead and pour in the fluid... I would say to let the truck sit an hour or so to let the RTV cure a bit before driving it just to be on the safe side...
