Hi guys, I have a question, I'm putting a 5600 pressure plate in my 1st gen, and had the flywheel turned. I was going to clean out the bolt holes for the pressure plate, and the tap felt funny.

Are those metric bolts that hold the pressure plate on?

On my stock flywheel, they're 5/16.

Thanks for any help,

Ptoombs,

I saw your post and was all set to jump on it then, oops, wasn't sure. The NV4500, NV5600 and G56 F/W's use 5/16".

If 5/16" doesn't feel right on a 1st gen F/W that originally used the cast iron Sachs cover then try M8. They are almost the same but they are not.

Well, I brought both bolts home from work. I had to get new ones anyways, as the holes are blind, and my old bolts are too long. I'll clean with brake cleaner and air, then try them. If they don't go, I'll ream them in, and it'll be a "pete" thread. :-laf

The flywheel is from an '02. The bolts are 5/16-18.

FYI, if anyone has their flywheel turned, clean the bolt holes before you put it in the truck. An over sight on my part, and a PITA to clean the holes. The grindings were packed in there pretty hard. I spun in a drill bit by hand, then tapped the holes out. Once I figured out a program, it worked good.

Thanks for all the replies.

I am almost 100% certain that they are 5/16-18. I know the SBC DD PP is the 5/16-18 (changed many of them), but it has been a while since I pulled apart a stock clutch.
