I have 5600 in my 02 3500 that jumps out of 6th gear at times under compresstion with the Pac Brake on. It has about 40,000 mis. on it. I have Amsoil Sync. in it. The original trans. did the same thing for 80,000 until the warranty put in a new one. That one lasted about 60,000 until the bolts holding the shift tower worked out. Why is it jumping out of gear? and what can I do. H Westfall

Wow, never heard of that problem before!

What rpm are you letting the engine get down to before it jumps out of gear? Does this happen in any other gear? Empty, towing, heavily loaded? Down grade, incline, level terrain?

Godspeed,
Trent

It only jumps out under hard deceleration with the Pac Brake on. It only happens in 6th gear & not always. Like I said the original also did it. The replacement didn't. Now this one does. Why? I don't want to put out $3,000 again. H. Westfall

Sorry, this won't help but; a friends 97 did the same thing in 5th. He had the getrag or whatever it was in the 97's but he just held it in until he got to the bottom of the hill or whatever. Once again, sorry for not helping, but you are not alone with this problem.

Thanks for the replys, I was hopeing that someone might know what caused two out of three to do that in less than 50,000 miles each. The first one was completly replace the district rep sayed the syncrals where bad. Now this one is doing the same thing. Harry

No experience w/truck trannies but with other std trans that popped out of gear was always related to a synco on the way out. my $0. 02
