I thought the G56 was made by Getrag. ??????????? I personally don't like them. I like the NV5600 way better, based on the few I've driven. Maybe I dove a bad one.

The G56 is not made by Getrag and is a completely different transmission there is a write up in the TDR Magazine about the G56. It is a medium duty truck transmission and has features that you would find in an Eaton or Spicer transmission that the NV5600 does not have and has synchros in all gears that the NV5600 does not.

G56

Egaskamp; You must have got a bad one. The G56 shifts like a hot knife through butter. You might have meant the low ratio gearing which is less than desireable for many people. With 373 gearing the G56 truck tachs like a NV5600 truck with 410's. The G56 needs 3. 5 dif. gearing for most people. I believe DC was trying to protect the driveline with this short gearing in the G56. With a USGear overdrive you would have it all, torque & MPG. Randy

Huh? I have read of several people complaining of rotten shifting of the G56... it isn't just a 5600 thing anymore...
