We're on a 7 month RV trip and I installed coolers on my 6 speed and a temp gauge. I'm getting readings of 200-225 degrees after several hours of towing at 60-65 mph and am wondering if that is normal. Anyone know what temp should cause concern with a 6 speed?

That sounds like normal temps to me. Mine runs about 190-200 loaded or empty at 65 mph. On the freeway it runs 140-160 at 75 mph loaded or empty. Most of the trany temp comes from heat sink off the engine. The faster you drive (more air flow) the cooler the temp is.

I don't know what a max temp would be, however any thing higher than what you normally see would be cause for concern, maybe 240.

That is what I'm seeing on mine. It has never gone past 225 but it will stay there all day on the interstate with a good load. I don't think this is a problem. My old 5 speed ran the same.

That is what I see with the Fast coolers installed, before the coolers I would see 240 to 250 on long pulls on the interstate with a GCVW of about 22k.

Yesterday, with temps in low 90's, some uphills and a headwind, temp stayed up around 275. I double checked fluid level, and it was fine. I'm keeping speed under 65 mph - gross weight is around 18,000. Maybe my gauge just reads high... .
