Got a fried NV 241D, anybody have any suggestions on the cheapest way to get back on the road? Initial pricing puts a rebuild around $1100, new around $2200:--) :--) :--)

Are they easy to come by in the junkyards? I was thinking it was going to be a couple of hundred dollar fix, not a thousand dollars. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

That's a great link! I appreciate it very much. Looks like I can get a rebuild around $6-700 and new under a grand.

241 HD Transfer Case

I rebuilt mine for about $400 which included front and rear bearings, seals, one new fork, and plastic guides for the other fork. The job took about 8 hours total. The chain and sprockets for the front axle were still in good shape and reused. The oil pump appeared to work ok and reused also. The bearing are special and a dealer item along with the forks. It was a test of self control.
