I have the 6 speed, not sure if that is what the NV4500 is but mine has 4 times in 3,000 miles. Not sure if I had the clutch in all the way tho. When it did it it was cold, ambient temp about 20 degrees F. I also may of been shifting a little to fast for conditions. I try to be carefull on my first two shifts in cold weather now. I get the feeling that is a shift that takes a little time and getting used to. I am interested in other peoples replies.

Walter,
The NV4500 is a 5spd. Your 6spd is the NV5600.

I used to have a '99 with a 5spd,and the only concern I had was it didn't always want to go into reverse unless I let the truck roll a little. No 3rd gear clash.

About a year ago i test drove a 95 2500 4x4 that had a horrible 3rd gear grind. It would almost hurt your hand it ground so bad. The transmission worked great otherwise no noises or anything. The owner of the truck runs a construction service and he said two of his other trucks did the same thing but early enough to catch it under warranty(the truck i drove only had 86K on it). But my 99 2500 has no problems at all. Hope that helped
