Sometimes its like the gates closed on 3rd going up or down. Not always but sometimes. Its the wifes truck and well it really chaps her. If im driving and I find that it wont slide in I either skip it, or roll up to the light.

I have checked to see if it would creep or start to roll just before fully in reverse or 3rd for that matter and it dont.

It also has Amsoil in the transmission.

in my 97 it seemed that 3rd was going out fast than any others. if it was all gears id suggest a clutch issue but just third its probably right.

I had the same problem... . Mine turned out to be the retainer bushings that the bolts go through were worn out that holds the shifter spacer plate to the top of the transmission. I took my console out & the rubber boots..... then loosen the 4 bolts holding the shifter spacer plate to the transmission. Adjust the plate a little bit & tighten it back down... . may take a couple of tries to get it perfect, but it worked for me. The problem is that the 4 bolts come loose over time & allow the plate to shift. I put loctite on the bolts & it is holding up great. Just a suggestion.
