I'm rebuilding a NV4500 5 speed and the 5th gear is held on with a split nut with a tightening cross bolt. Does anyone know the procedure for tightening the nut on installation? Do you torque it down first and then tighten the cross bolt or tighten the cross bolt to a predetermined amount and then torque the split nut?
