Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) nv4500 + amsoil = ?

Anybody running the amsoil in there nv4500?

I have since my rebuild. No problems so far. Some folks have used it much longer than I have.

I'm with BobV, over 150K. Just ordered some more Friday. I have a leak at the speedo drive I have to fix and then going to change the oil.

Standard Transmission switched from Syntorq to Amsoil quite awhile ago.

I changed my trans fluid for the first time at 185,000 and used Amsoil seems to be doing fine.

I ran Amsoil for the first 150k and since have switched to Schaeffer Oil's gear lube. I have had zero issues with either and mine has had the Syntorq out since 13k on the odometer when I bought the truck... ... Andy

what kind of oil goes in the nv4500

The official lube is the Castrol Syntorq, available from Std. Trans, Quad 4X4, Dodge dealers, or GM dealers.



The Amsoil is the MTG 75W-90 API GL-4.

FYI, Standard Transmision stopped carrying syntorq over a year ago. They now sell Amsoil.

i have three trucks with 4500 trannys. two of them have been running amsoil for at least 2 years now. one of them has a gearvendor unit hung on the back of it, running amsoil there also. no issues to complain about... fair priced product in my opinion. .
