Archived NV4500 dieing near Ogden, UT

I sure could use a recommendation for a good trans repair shop in the area. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th gears all make noise when engaged. Trans still shifts smoothly and the clutch is normal. I'm pretty sure I am in need of a set of cluster gears. The trans has about 150k on it since Standard trans installed the fully splined 5th gear kit. If someone can't give me a recommendation for a shop that they have had work done in I will drive back to Tx in 4th gear with my fingers crossed before I will do eeny, meeny, miny, moe in the local yellow pages.



I'm in a library making this post and they are closed on Sun so I may not be able to respond until Mon.

Ken bent over backward to help me out but there wasn't a trans anywhere in the area and having one shipped from Ft. Worth wasn't cost effective. I babied the first three gears and drove to Tx in 4th. With the top off the only obvious damage was a flat synchronizer and I didn't stick around for the rest of the teardown. I'll find out the total damage tomorrow and hopefully will be back on the road in the afternoon.



I will keep Ken's number on file though. He is a top notch guy.
