I'm pretty sure they're all the same ratio. I did a fair bit of reading on NV4500s and 5600s before doing my conversion and didn't find anything about different ratios in forward gears. The information here and here just says the reverse ratio was changed from 5. 61 to 5. 04. That's about all I can offer.

The NV4500 is the same for all years.

4500 and 5600 1st gear is the same, 4500's 4th is the 5600's 5th, 4500's 5th is the 5600's 6th.

5600's 2nd is slightly lower then the 4500's...

5600's 3rd is higher then the 4500's 2nd and finally...

5600's 4th is slightly higher then the 4500's 3rd.

I think I got that all right.

Now that I went back and read your post again, I see that you couldn't care less about the NV5600, I'm not very smart sometimes.

All NV4500's are created equal. :-laf

Woodenhead is right about the reverse and I thought first changed too. I know for a fact that a 98 up counter shaft will not work in the eariler box due to reverse. I found that one out rebuilding my 94 5spd. The lid is also different with the 98 having a 4 bolt removable shifter socket.

I was aware of the gearing difference between the 4500 and the 5600, but i was wondering about the early 4500 and late 4500. Someone told me there was a difference in the gearing but wasnt sure. I knew about the cover change in 98 on the 4500. I am looking for a newer one for my 94. thanks for the info.
