Hey guys, having problems with the transmission. I have a Mitchell twin disc. Just rebuilt the motor, what a job. Since then I thought the rear main was leaking and it wasn't. So I pulled the transmission and clutch... no leak. reinstalled lock tighted everthing. Drove it a few times and noticed a vibration in the clutch pedal and the shifter. kept driveing, probalbly a mistake! figured after some break in I'd let the new twins spool up a bit tire smoke in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th(pretty neat :) but then I heard a noise. Now when I push the clutch pedal in, no noise yet, then when I go to shift into gear. The transmission ( I think) is making a noise ( like its the snycros). Mainly at a standstill. But it is in every gear... . I have searched the archives, the only one that came close was possibly the pilot bearing has fallen out or something of that nature. Thanks so much always an informative sight... . . PLease help

I think that I remember hearing that with a twin disc clutch, there are no springs so they "rattle" when disengauaged (clutch pedal pushed in) I don't think it would make noise when the clutch is engauged.

I think your pilot bearing is shelling out so the input shaftnever quits turning!!Been there, done that. If oil leak the front seal is being whipped out also!

you might also want to check the throwout bearing also. when mine went bad it was making noise, wasnt a grinding more like a rattle but the shifter and pedal would shake/pulsate like you were describing. good luck

Thanks guys I,m going to tear her apart this week and check it out... It is probably my fault, for not changing both bearings, my dad warned me, I failed to listen :( Once again learning the hard way... . The older I get The smarter He gets! Damn kids.
