I've done a search, but couldn't find any answers to this specific type of issue. When the trans is cold, when starting off in 1st and then going to 2nd, both gears at the beginning have a bit of a growl, almost like a rattle. Its only in the bottom end, as soon as the rpms get past 1500 or so, it goes away. I'm going to go out and check the level of my fluid, as I have a slow leak. Does anyone know about this particular issue? I know my throw-out bearing is bad, I have a SBC Con O waiting to go in, just need to find the time. I'm hoping that it might be pilot or throw-out bearing related, but I really don't know, and I'm thinking if I'll be pulling the trans to do the clutch and also fix its leaks, then if it needs something else, I'd like to do it then as well. Anyone know what it might be or have had this problem before?

Dont know what problem is but I have same sound in 3rd and 4th notice it more if it lugs down a bit and speeding back up. Is worse with a load behind as well.

Mine's done it when I get on it ever since I started bombing. Didn't do it at stock power levels. No adverse problems in @100K miles. My transmission man told me it was the straight cut gears.

Yea seems I have noticed mine more since started bombing. I didnt know if it was the gears or maybe some backlash in there causing it.
