NV4500 in 1st gen according to "Four Wheeler" ...

Recvd my Dec issue yesterday afternoon & p54 states that the NV4500 replaced the Getrag in mid-'91. Any chance that some later 1st gens did in fact come equipped with the NV4500 (I can dream)?

Some time those Four Wheeler guys are on the ball, other days at least they try hard.

I wish my 91. 5 had a 4500. I was under the assumption that only 93s had 4500s

I have seen several 93s with Getrags in them so who knows.

Look on the drivers side of the case (I think) in big letters, mine has GETRAG or however you spell it.



My junk yard buddy says only 93's had the 4500 to 205 adapter.



Any and all wisdom from others will be appreciated.

The "Four Wheeler" info is contrary to all the research I've done on '88-'93 specs. I could understand some late '93's getting the NV4500 but not '91. 5's. I think what they really meant to say was that '91. 5 was when intercooler equipped trucks 1st became available. Or perhaps that's when the regular (non-HD) NV4500 1st became available in the gasser trucks. My '92 Dodge D&W 150-350, Ramcharger FSM does have a section devoted to the NV4500 (doesn't look any different than the NV4500HD listed in my '95 GM Light Duty Truck FSM either, plus has same ratios). But the next section covers the Getrag G360 & to quote "... is used exclusively with the Cummins turbo diesel engine. "

I thought that only late '93 models had a NV4500. Is this correct or am I misinformed???

I bought my '93 in Jan of '93 and it came with a Gertash. I have never heard of an '89 thru '93 being built with an NV4500HD as original equipment.

I thought Dodge dumped the Gutbag when they went to the 2nd Gen. body stle in '94. Before that I thought the only transmission avail. was the Gutbag.

My 93 has a "Gettrashed" transmission and I've never seen any original NV 4500's in a 1st gen. (Getrag=Run 'til noisy, then add more oil thru the top)
