I am dying to do a manual swap in my truck but dont have $3500 laying around for an nv5600. Just wondering if it would be possible to fit up an nv4500 to it. Thanks in advance

It has to be. 2003 & early 2004 Cummins trucks w/o the high output motors (standard output) came with nv4500's. The hard par twould be finding a donor truck.

I have been looking around on ebay and found a good bit of nv4500 reman's for not much more than $1,000. Shure beats three times that for an nv5600...

The early 03 SO motors were availale with the NV4500 so it should bolt right in. The question would be if there are any sensors that would be needed on a later truck or a lenght difference. Tomeygun has one, might ping him and see if he knows any differences.

I'm also wanting to swap in a standard. Please keep posting on any info you find out.

I imagine there's going to have to be some work done to the wireing so the computer isnt looking for the auto transmission anymore.

I am considering swapping over to a standard transmission as well. I have niot had any luck seaching past forums for info on this.

I think I read that the NV4500's had a diff. transfer case (241 instead of a 271?). I also read somewhere that the NV4500 is shorter than the G-56/271's and NV5600/271 combos.
