I think I'll change back to factory to travel with the 28' fiver though.
 
1. ) Factory fill used for the first 88,000 mikes. Switched to Amsoil for 5,000 miles.

2. ) After read Joe Donnelly's article in the TDR I switched back to Castrol syntorque at 93,000 miles, due to the synchro clutches possibly being attacked by the Amsoil. Current mileage is 97,500. Noticed that after switching back to Syntorque the NV4500 shifted with slightly less effort, had less of a nothcy feel to it.

1997 2500 Ext Cab 4X4,5 spd,3. 54's,Pac brake,Rancho 9000's,Centerforce clutch,K&N airfilter, Isspro gauges,TST #11 plate (280hp/680tq),AFC medium spring, Jardine 4" exhaust, 370 Diamond B marine injectors and 16cm turbine housing.
 
1. Factory fill changed out for same.

2. 50K on factory fill. 38K miles on fresh oil.

3. No problems.

Drained every thing at 5k
Refilled transmission with castrol syntec 70/w 90
drained every 6 mo or 100k which ever came first.
all oem bearings in place except rear main shaft tapered roller bearing replaced along with main shaft when doing test for new fifth gear factory fix(old bearing mike'd)same as new (292 k )at that time.
Now at 750k trans still shifts grate and see no indication of any metal when lube is drained. also have a 4 inch mag attached to pto cover plate and at all drains the cover is removed and check plate/mag for any particals.

Amsoil Series 2000 75W90,32000 on it. No problems. Son has 99 with 73000 on it,same as me.

That is fantastic & most interesting that you have put on so many miles w/ no problems using a lube that is "officially" not to be used in a GL-4 application!!!

Is there any particular scientific reason you picked out Syntec to use?
What do you haul around to get those kind of miles? Average Load weight etc. ,
What is your geographic driving region?
What kind of temps are you usually exposing this equipement to?

48,000 miles on factory fill - no problems
the last 26,000 miles on Mobil-1 GL5 - no problems
