jacobs exhaust brake 24v to 12v

14 hours later, I got it all installed.

I just experienced the dreaded 5th gear failure in my NV4500. Anyone with first hand experience on buying an exchange rebuilt unit? Would appreciate any comments. Thanks, DPratt

You can try Blumenthals too. Thats what I have in mine. I would call both companies and use who ever you can get it cheaper with. I think if you get a new south bend clutch with the blumethals unit they give you a discount

Thanks Kenny, I'll try them both. I already have the South Bend clutch, put it in two years ago. It works great as you know.

The only other thing I would add and its personal preference / opinion only.

Standard transmission is using amsoil I do not know if they ship the unit dry or prefilled. Blumenthals ships em dry. I would use only the factory oil. I know many here have used other products and have had no problems. A rare few have. With what these units cost I will only use the factory oil Quad 4x4 sells it. While your at it give genos a call and get the transmission coolers and a temp gauge. I had to replace mine due to my own neglect and it running dry, i feel much better with a gauge

Thanks to all who replied - it was a big help. I have decided to go with Blumethal's, their price was just a bit lower, they also sell the Syntorq for about $10/qt. - I won't use anything else. They also dyno test each unit which impressed me. Their sales staff was very knowledgeable and helpful especially in figuring out the best freight cost. I should have the truck back in operation in a few days.

No problem I have my blumenthals for a few years now and am very happy with it still shifting nice and smooth. I should probably change the oil .....

A final update on this situation - got my rebuilt unit from Blumenthal, it is now installed with a couple hundred miles on it. It works well, and the people at Blumenthal have been absolutely great to work with. I would highly recommend their services. Thanks to all for the comments received.
