nv4500 swap

on one of the archive posts I read where a nv4500 was swapped into a first gen without having to get a different bell housing . any information about this would be greatly appreciated as my getrud decided to go south on me last weekend. thx bill

Hey bill, you will need an adapter as the hole pattern is different on the nv4500. www.advance adapters.com has them for this conversion. I have the set up in the corner waiting to go in but the getrag keeps getting better and quietier. This is a good conversion as long as you address the 5th gear problem the nv4500 have. Tim

just an up date on trani woes had truck towed to a "reputable "shop Monday got run around from them for 3 days and actually was lied to outright by them yanked truck off side of street [supposed to be locked in shop over night ] needless to say will not go or recomend them again will post monday or tuesday when I know what is wrong. This shop actually has truck in bay and has started to check it out, preliminary thought may be shift fork

Well now for an up date. The get up and went cooked didn't really give any major warning but such is life. am going to go with a rebuilt getrag for now been ramless a week and a half tooooo loooong already. will start gathering the necessary goodies to go for nv next time around hopefully a long ways down the trail.
