Well after 150,000 hard miles, 70,000 plus bombed I am going to have to upgrade my NV4500 so it can handle more power and increase reliability. I am currently at the edge of the Max specs for South Bends 13" OFE clutch concerning HP and torque. I am going to upgrade to a dual disk clutch and Piers is trying to talk me into another turbo to go with my PDR HX40(yes I mean twins) So I will need a larger input shaft, the fully splined main shaft 5th gear nut fix, third gear upgrade and a short throw shifter (getting the shifter next week).

The Question is who should I go to have a trany built ( I intend to drag race on a limited basis ;) ) and who will back it up ? I am also considering in doing the rebuild myself,I just bought a 20 ton floor press and have a very complete set of tools & more time than money. I am currently at 421 rwhp @ 914 lb feet of torque and I am aiming for 650-700 plus rwhp or more. So any input or recommendations would be great.

Thanks

Kyle

Upgrades for Nv4500... .

1 3/8" input shaft Haisley, SBC, or EEP

cast iron 4x4 extension housing (back cover) Standard Trans

double snap rings on counter shaft 5th gear to reduce play Bluementhal transmission

Short shifter BD, BMD

fully splined main shaft NV (I perfer the old half splined shaft becasue once you abuse the transmission, the splines twist on 5th and it dont want to come off, if you drive like grandpa, get the new one)

Updated 5th gear nut NV one time use, you cant buy the old ones anymore.

to my knowledge, thats all of the upgrades.

NOBODY makes stronger gears or shafts for the manual trannys. There aint a market
