I've got the NV4500 in my 92 and I know it needs Castrol Syntork 80/90. Cannot find it anywhere local except at the dealer. Two questions- is there a substitute and what is the capacity?
RD, run a search in the archives (entire TDR, not just 1st gen forum) and you will find plenty of good reading on the subject. From what I've read, stick with the Castrol Syntorq GL-4. Sounds like the cheapest place to buy is from standard transmission. I think they are a TDR vendor so you could look up there web address. Here is a link to one of the readings I looked at. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=62242&highlight=4500+lube
RD, I bought mine at the G\M dealer GM12346190 @15. 00 a quart. I think you can get a good deal with shipping from Standard transmissions. Don't sub it!!!! Tim
