What is the difference between a gas n4500 and a diesel nv4500?

looking at one for $400 tomorrow morning.

both the gas model,and the gm diesel model,use a smaller input shaft than the dodge diesel model. also,earlier model 4500 transmission's have a lower ratio first gear. .

The gear ratio's can't be the same. A diesel is maxed out at 3000 rpm and a gas engine is just starting to run at 3000.

Well, according to stats of the internet.....

5. 61 first gear type transmission, 92-93 dodge, electronic speed odometer, 1"-19 spline input, 30 spline output.

I will check it out tonight to verify everything, but it is an early dodge one with a 1"-19 spline input. Yes, I know it would be better is I have the 1-1/8" x 10 input, but at $350 and being used for a 4bt rotary... . cpl858, it is good enough.

I may have to change the input shaft, but that is simple... . maybe.

It is one heavy sucker though... . 195lbs dry.

It will be better than the T19 that I currently have.
